Alice Springs is situated
in Central Australia, between Tennant Creek and Yulara, in the Northern
Territory. It is a major
international tourist destination and
gateway to Australia's vast and
mysterious Outback. Affectionately known
as "the Alice", it is now the
second largest town in the Northern
Territory, with a population of just over
27 000. The Alice is situated in the
Macdonnell Ranges, about halfway along
the Stuart Highway, between Darwin and
Adelaide.
