Arcadia is situated on Magnetic Island, 8 kilometres
off the coast of Townsville. The island is
serviced by regular daily car and
passenger ferries - the Fastcat Ferry
crossing the sheltered waters of
Cleveland Bay in just 15 minutes. The
island is mountainous and thickly wooded
with some areas only accessible by four
wheel drive. Magnetic Island is
especially popular among backpackers,
providing a range of budget
accommodation.
