Motels

A motel is a type of lodging where the rooms are accessed directly from a parking area. Also known as motor inns, they are a common sight along highways. The classic highway motel provided nothing but the bare basics, since their clientelle were usually just passing through. However, nowadays, many motels offer a family friendly atmosphere, with swimming pool, playgound equipment and barbecue area. A motel room is typically air-conditioned and satellite TV is common. Some motels attract business travellers with special rates and access to fax and photocopy facilities. Of course, not all motels and motor inns are situated on a highway. Motels and motor inns can also be found in much quieter surrounds, near the beach or other places of recreation.
